Q: Can I order something other than birth announcements?
A:
While Katherine Jakobs started out specializing in birth announcements, almost no time went by before customers were asking for birthday invitations, save the date cards and the like. So yes, basically anything you want is available. If it can be designed and printed on any of the products offered here, whatever you are wanting is possible!
The word "announcement" is used throughout the site to refer to any sort of announcement one might need-- it's just easier than constantly typing "announcements, invitations, save the date cards, etc." ;o)
Q: What kind of paper are the photo announcements printed on?
A:
Fujicolor Crystal Archive photographic paper from Fuji, as well as Kodak Professional - This is actual photo paper your announcements are being printed on, so for all intents and purposes, all of the photo announcements are photographs. Perfect for a photo album or refridgerator door-- wherever the recipient chooses to display it!
Q: Can I have a 5x7 printed from my 4x6 soft copy announcement?
A:
Well, sure, you can... there's nothing stopping you from ordering a different size than what is designed for you... But we strongly advise against it. The design for your announcement is a full bleed, that is - it goes all the way to the edge of the photo paper. By having anything other than what you ordered from Katherine Jakobs printed, some part of the design will be cut off. If you think you would like a commemorative enlargement, we recommend ordering one from our site so that your design can be adjusted appropriately.
Q: How come one 5x7 is $7.50, but 30 or more are $1.50 each?
A:
Say you order 30 (or more) 4x6 announcements and one 5x7 to frame for yourself-- Because the proportions between the 4x6 and the 5x7 are different, I cannot just send the 4x6 layout to the printer and ask for a 5x7. It wouldn't print correctly. A whole new layout for the 5x7 is required, so what most of the $7.50 is paying for is my time to recreate your 4x6 announcement in a 5x7 layout.
Q: What is the finish on the announcements?
A:
You have the choice of either glossy or matte.
Q: Can I send my photos via Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc.?
A:
Unfortunately, no. As nice as that would be, the original photos at full resolution are needed for the best results.
Q: Are there any additional fees for photo editing?
A:
Absolutely none.
Q: Will you help me narrow down my photo choices?
A:
Sure! I actually feel like I come up with better designs when I am sent a slew of photos from which to choose. If you have a specific photo(s) that you love and absolutely want to use, that's great. But if you just can't decide, feel free to send as many as you wish!
Q: Will you let us know if the design we initially pick out won't work?
A:
Certainly. It's my goal to give you the best product possible. If the layout's just not working, I'm absolutely going to let you know so that together we can decide if another photo would work better, or if it's time to try another layout.
Q: Is it possible to get my envelopes ahead of time?
A:
Of course-- if you know you'd like to use Katherine Jakobs but your baby's not here yet, or for some other reason you would like your envelopes ahead of time, just add "Pre-Order Envelopes" to your cart when placing your order (found in the "the little extras" catergory). As soon as you're ready to have your announcements designed, just email us and we'll get started. There is a $7 shipping charge for mailing envelopes ahead of time.
Sorry, but pre-orders are not available for the 4x8 photo announcements.
Q: What types of payments do you accept?
A:
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards, or Paypal (funded balance, bank transfers, or e-checks).
Please note: We use Paypal to process all credit card orders. You do not need a Paypal account to use your credit card with us, but you will need to choose "Paypal" as your payment method at check out - at which time, you will be momentarily taken to a Paypal check out page where you will be able to proceed without creating a Paypal account.
Sorry, but personal checks and money orders are not accepted at this time.
Q: What is your turn around time?
A:
It takes approximately 48 hours for you to get your first proof. So digital orders can be to you in 2-3 days typically if you choose to have it emailed to you. For hard copy orders, from the time you order to the time you receive your order in the mail is approximately 2 weeks.
Q: How will my order be shipped?
A:
Shipping is a flat rate of $8 anywhere in the United States. Insurance is available for an additional fee. All packages are shipped via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.
Canadian customers, please contact us for a shipping quote prior to placing your order.
Q: What is your return/refund policy?
A:
A full refund without question is available up to the point of proof approval.
Once approval has been given and the design is sent to print, the only reason a refund will be given is on the off chance that your announcements return from the printer and do not meet my professional standards. This has never happened but should it, you will be notified and given the options of either reprinting the announcements or being issued a full refund.
There are no refunds given or returns accepted once your order has shipped.
